Planning your child’s first birthday might be daunting- but it’s actually easier than you think! I followed the 10 tips for planning your child’s first birthday by Kori Ellis and stuck by these guidelines.
My son’s party was definitely small, only immediate relatives and very close friends. It was intimate and personal. I stayed within my budget, hired a photographer, crafted and designed all the decorations and e-invitations. I ordered 10 helium balloons in the theme colours blue and green, and distributed them to all the kids by the end of the party. I was very environmentally cautious so no Styrofoams and minimal plastics were used. What I forgot to put in the invitation to guests was a request to not wrap the gifts – at the age of one, my toddler could not grasp the excitement of tearing gift wrappers.
A huge pat on my back for all the hard work putting together this party by myself (proudly sponsored by my husband). I hope that my son will look back at the pictures from his party and realise that he was surrounded by smiles, love and happiness.
