Although I own a blender, I prefer pressing the steamed fruit or vegetables prepared for our son through a fine sieve. This is because I find that blending produces puree that’s a little too runny. I showed my husband an interesting video on prepping baby food with KidCo Food Mill and boy, was he impressed. He found me a potato press, also known as a potato ricer, at Ikea for RM45 that functions the same way.
Here’s how I prepared my son’s carrot puree this morning:
- There is quite a lot of juice produced when pressing the carrots.
- I save the water used to steam the carrots to smooth and thin the puree.
